AHB Performing
Ensembles
Concert Band:
This is a traditional
concert band of 50-60 musicians. Complete with all the bells and whistles,
we use percussion, woodwind, and brass players on instruments such as
drums, flutes, and horns.
Ceremonial Band:
This is a band of 25-30
musicians that performs for smaller civic functions such as the Memorial
Day Service. All sections of the band are represented in this group, but
in smaller numbers.
Jazz Band:
Directed by Dr. Phillip Cooley, this is a group that plays popular big band tunes for special occasions
like the USO Dance, held every year before the 4th of July. We have saxes,
trumpets, trombones, and percussion to liven up your evening and get the
joint jumpin'.
Chamber Ensembles:
These groups are heard
throughout the year and consist of 4-10 players. For example, we have both
a flute choir and a trombone choir who play special arrangements of
classical and popular tunes.
